The Golden Eaglets of Nigeria are preparing for their semifinal match against West African rivals Ivory Coast at the ongoing WAFU-B U-17 Championship after securing a 3-0 victory against Togo.
The Nigerian U-17 team beat Togo by three unreplied goals in their final Group B game on Thursday, which was played at the spacious Accra University Stadium pitch.
During the keenly contested game, the Golden Eaglets opened scoring in the first half when Abdulmuiz Adeleke hit the back of the net following an assist from Abdulmuiz Oladimeji.
The Manu Garba-coached side scored again in the first half through Rapha Adams, and later in the second half, Adeleke made it 3-0, which turned out to be the last goal of the match.
The Golden Eaglets finished tops after bagging seven points from Group B (two wins and a draw) and are now poised to take on the Baby Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire.
After Ghana and Burkina Faso’s first semifinals, Nigeria, the defending champions, will play Cote d’Ivoire in the second semifinal on Saturday at 7 p.m. Nigerian time.
