WAFU B TOURNAMENT: Garba confident of securing positive result against Burkina Faso
The coach of the Nigerian U-17 team nicknamed the Golden Eaglets, Manu Garba, is confident that his team will get a positive result against Burkina Faso in their first match in the ongoing WAFU B U-17 championship taking place in Ghana.
The Golden Eaglets, who are the defending champions of the tournament, will take on Burkina Faso today in their first game, and Garba says his wards are ready to face their opponents squarely.
The seasoned coach, who spoke in a chat with thenff.com said that his team is responding well in training and they are focused on their first game against Burkina Faso.
He said; “The players have been responding to training. The weather is similar to what we experienced in Abuja before our departure.
“Our primary objective is to get one of the two tickets from here to the Africa U-17 Cup of Nations. We will focus on the matches one at a time. For now, we are focused on our opening game against Burkina Faso.” Garba noted.
The Golden Eaglets are drawn in Group B of the WAFU B competition and will play West African rivals Burkina Faso, Niger Republic, and Togo. The goal is to qualify for the Africa U17 Cup of Nations next year.
On Sunday, May 19, the Eaglets, who emerged victorious in the competition final two years prior in Ghana, will play their second match at the same venue against Niger Republic.
On Wednesday, May 22, the Manu Garba-coached team will take on Togo in their final group match of the WAFU B competition at the Accra Stadium.
