Tinubu Submits 2024 FCTA Budget to Reps, Urges Swift Approval

President Bola Tinubu has presented the 2024 budget for the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) to the House of Representatives, urging prompt consideration and approval. During the plenary session on Tuesday, the Speaker, Abbas Tajudeen, read the president’s letter, which, however, did not include specific budget estimates.

Tinubu’s letter highlighted that the 2024 FCTA budget proposal aligns with the constitutional provisions and focuses on revenue, expenditure, and development policies in line with the federal government’s Renewed Hope Agenda. The budget considerations also take into account the 2024/2026 economic recovery and growth plan, along with key assumptions in the 2024 national budget.

The FCTA’s budget priorities, as outlined in the proposal, emphasize enhancing healthcare services, fostering job creation, empowering youth, and boosting agricultural productivity to alleviate poverty. Tinubu expressed confidence that the budget, aimed at addressing crucial sectors and promoting development, would receive prompt and favorable consideration from the House of Representatives.

Following the reading of the letter, Speaker Abbas Tajudeen directed that the budget request be referred to the Committee on Appropriation for thorough deliberation and eventual passage.
