Thomas Tuchel reacts after his appointment as new England manager
Popular German tactician Thomas Tuchel has made his first comments following his appointment as the new coach of the English male national team nicknamed ‘The Three Lions’.
The former Bayern Munich coach who spoke with the media after he was officially unveiled said that he is proud to be appointed as the new England manager.
Tuchel, who once coached English Premier League club Chelsea, stated that he would work hard for the biggest target in football: the World Cup in 2026.
He said; “I’m proud to be here, I’m proud to represent England. I want to put the second star on this shirt”.
“We will work hard for the biggest target in football, making our dream come true at the World Cup 2026”.
“I just have a German passport… but all of these supporters can feel my passion for the English Premier League, how I love to work here, how I love to live here… hopefully I can convince them I am proud to be an England manager”.
While commenting on the surprising appointment of Tuchel as coach, FA CEO Mark Bullingham said the German was appointed to give England the best possible shot to win a trophy.
He said; “We wanted to hire a coaching team to give us the best possible chance of winning a major tournament, and we believe they will do just that”.
“Thomas and the team have a single-minded focus on giving us the best possible chance to win the World Cup”.
