Super Falcons defender Rofiat Imuran joins London City Lionesses
Super Falcons defender Rofiat Imuran has signed the dotted lines for English Women’s Championship club London City Lionesses after parting ways with French club Stade Reims.
The 20-year-old player who was included in the 23-player Nigerian squad for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup disclosed that she is very excited to join London City Lionesses.
She further noted that ever since she arrived at the club from France, everyone has been so welcoming and she can’t wait to help the team on the field of play.
Rofiat said: “I’m very excited to join London City Lionesses and start a new chapter in my career in England. Everyone has been so welcoming since I arrived and I look forward to being able to help the team on the pitch.
“I wanted to come to London City because the coach presented an interesting project and I wanted a different challenge.”
The coach of London City Lionesses Jocelyn Prêcheur who expressed her delight at the signing of Rofiat said that the player was brought in because of the plan to develop the team.
“I have explained in the past that to develop this team we really wanted to focus on two profiles – experienced players who can lead and young players with huge talent and potential,” Prêcheur told the club’s official website.
“Rofiat fits into the second category. She already has brilliant experience and playing at the Under-20 World Cup was a wonderful opportunity for her to learn more. She’s very fast, left-footed, and likes to attack the space behind the defenders.
“Rofiat still needs to develop, but this is a very good opportunity for us to help her improve. She can play every position on the left and will contribute offensively this season.”
