Super Eagles and Napoli striker Victor Osimhen is still on the priority list of English Premier League (EPL) side Chelsea FC in their search for a new striker ahead of next season.
This update was made known in a post shared on social media by transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, who disclosed that Chelsea had contacted the agents of Benjamin Sesko and Osimhen.
He stated that Chelsea has a shortlist of four to five names to strengthen each department of their team next season and has spoken to different agents to discuss opportunities.
“They have a shortlist of players, maybe four or five names for each position, but you still don’t know who is the top target, but at the end of the day, you are already speaking to agents to discuss opportunities,” he told Mics’ YouTube page.
“For example, Chelsea spoke to different agents for the striker position—the agents of Sesko and Osimhen, the agents of different players,” Romano added.
This comes days after Gianluca Di Marzio, an Italian writer and transfer specialist, claimed that Chelsea is considering enticing Napoli with a partial exchange for Osimhen.
In the proposed trade, Chelsea would pay Napoli €90 million for Lukaku, a young talent, and Osimhen’s signature.
The potential transfer may come to fruition as Lukaku was pursued by Napoli’s current director, Giovanni Manna, while on his summer break at Juventus.
