Former Liverpool defender Steve Nicole has explained why Super Eagles and Napoli FC striker Victor Osimhen will be a good fit for his former team as a replacement for Mo Salah.
Nicole, who shared his opinion in a recent chat with ESPN said that Osimhen would be a fantastic replacement for Salah if he leaves the club this year or next year.
He also stated that should Osimhen move to Anfield, Darwin Núñez would be forced to play out wide since his work rate is outstanding, but his clinicality is questionable, unlike the Nigerian international.
“The fact that Salah will leave, regardless of whether it will be this year or next, Osimhen? I think he would be fantastic for Liverpool,” Nicol told ESPN.
“In midfield, we have just signed Alexis MacAllister and Dominik Szoboszlai, (Wataru) Endo has proved incredible, you need someone who runs all day and gives it (the ball) to MacAllister and Szoboszlai.”
He has a release clause of around €120–€130 million in the contract he signed with Napoli last December and is being courted by a host of clubs, including Chelsea, Arsenal and PSG.
