Remo Day 2024: A Cultural Extravaganza Set to Captivate the Heart of Remoland

As the 2024 Remo Day approaches, anticipation is building for this landmark event that promises to showcase the rich cultural heritage of Remoland. The maiden edition of the festival will take place from December 20 to December 27, 2024, with the grand finale slated for December 27 at the Gateway International Stadium on Sagamu-Ikenne Road, Sagamu Ogun State.

In an exclusive interview with our correspondent, His Royal Majesty, Oba Dr. Babatunde Adewale Ajayi CFR TORUNGBUWA II, the Akarigbo of Remoland, expressed his excitement and vision for the festival. “Remo Day is not just a celebration; it is a unifying event for all towns within Remoland. We want to highlight our cultural heritage and involve everyone in the festivities. It’s a world-class event that will welcome both indigenes and visitors from across Nigeria and the diaspora,” he stated.

The festival kicks off with a series of activities designed to engage the youth and showcase artistic talent. An art competition among secondary school students will be held, alongside an art exhibition running from December 20 to December 26 at the Royal Event Hall, Akarigbo Palace, Ita Oba Sagamu. This initiative aims to inspire creativity and promote the artistic skills of students in the region. There will be a live dance drama to be stage in Ilisan Remo on the 24th of December.

The grand finale on December 27 will be a sight to behold, featuring vibrant cultural performances, a glamorous parade showcasing various age groups and associations, and documentaries that delve into the history and cultural heritage of Remoland. “We have a rich history that deserves to be celebrated, and this festival will serve as a platform to share our stories with the world,” Oba Ajayi emphasized.

The Akarigbo also revealed that all towns within Remoland will take part in the festival, ensuring a comprehensive representation of the diverse cultures and traditions within the region. “Everyone is invited to come experience our rich heritage. We hope this event will foster a sense of pride and community among Remo indigenes and create lasting memories for all who attend,” he added.

In a spirit of camaraderie, Oba Babatunde Ajayi mentioned that following the grand finale, each town will host its unique after-party events, providing more opportunities for celebrations and social connections among attendees.

The Remo Day festival is powered by the Remo Growth and Development Foundation (REMOGDF), an initiative committed to promoting the socio-economic development of the Remoland community. With a full calendar of activities and robust community involvement, Remo Day 2024 is set to be an unforgettable celebration of culture, art, and unity.
