PARIS OLYMPICS: Super Falcons will bounce back against Spain after loss to Brazil — John Enoh
Nigeria’s Sports Minister John Enoh is upbeat that the Super Falcons will bounce back against World Champions Spain despite losing to Brazil at the ongoing Paris Olympics.
As the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament got underway, the Super Falcons were defeated by Gabi Nunes of Brazil in the 37th minute, separating the two-time Olympic silver medalists and the nine-time African champions.
While reacting to the loss of the team after the match, Enoh stated that he is upbeat that the Super Falcons will put up a good show against Spain but the task will be daunting.
He lauded the players for their courageous performance against Brazil and feels they have the talent to upset Spain, stating a victory against the team is not impossible.
“The next match against Spain, the World Cup champion will be daunting, but not insurmountable,” Enoh said after the game.
“It wasn’t a bad game (vs Brazil).
“We could have been a goal or two up before Brazil scored their goal.” The Minister noted.
The Super Falcons will face Spain in two time days at the Stade de la Beujoire in Nantes, followed by a group-stage match against Japan on Wednesday, July 31.
