Ogun State Schools Resume for New Academic Session

Public and private primary and secondary schools, as well as government technical colleges in Ogun State, reopened on Tuesday, marking the beginning of the 2024-2025 academic session.

Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, monitored resumption activities in Ijebu-Ode, Odogbolu, Ikenne, Sagamu, and Abeokuta South Local Government Areas. Accompanied by top ministry officials, Prof. Arigbabu commended principals and teachers for their proactive approach and conducting welcome tests.

Emphasizing the importance of cooperation between learners and teachers, Prof. Arigbabu urged students to be hardworking, committed, and proactive. “With dedication and determination, you can achieve greatness,” he said.

Principals from various schools, including Ansar-ud-deen High School and Sagamu High School, praised the ministry’s pre-resumption orientation and assured their readiness for the academic session.

Teachers, represented by Mrs. Victoria Odufuwa and Samsudeen Alebiosu, pledged to inculcate values in learners and uphold the government’s legacy.

Meanwhile, State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) Chairman, Dr. Femi Majekodunmi, monitored Wesley Nursery and Primary School in Ikenne. He stressed the importance of parents monitoring their children’s health and teachers checking students’ books to aid academic excellence.

Dr. Majekodunmi clarified that the monitoring exercise aimed to assess preparedness, prioritize welfare, and support Governor Dapo Abiodun’s commitment to enhancing the education sector.
