Ogun PDP Kickstarts Local Government Election Preparations With Aspirant Screening
The Ogun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has commenced the screening of hundreds of aspirants vying for various positions given the forthcoming local government election scheduled for November 16 is few months away.
Notably, former Ijebu East Local Government Chairman, Wale Adedayo, who was previously embroiled in controversy with the state government, has been screened alongside other hopefuls. Adedayo’s candidacy comes despite his suspension and impeachment as Chairman of Ijebu East Local Government, as well as a pending court case for alleged defamation of character against Governor Abiodun.
The PDP’s screening exercise, which precedes the party’s primary elections, is to select credible candidates for the upcoming polls. Afolabi Orekoya, the party’s Publicity Secretary, announced that the councilorship and chairmanship primary elections are scheduled for September 5 and September 7, respectively.
Orekoya emphasized the importance of peaceful participation in the primaries, urging party members to exercise their right to elect their preferred candidates.
