Ogun Apc Cracks Down on Unauthorized Meetings Ahead of Local Government Polls

The Ogun State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has issued a stern warning against sectional and unauthorized meetings within the party, ahead of the November 16 Local Government elections.

In a statement released on Tuesday, State Party Chairman, Yemi Sanusi, emphasized that only meetings called by the party or its designated representatives would be recognized. Sanusi cautioned that any individual or group organizing or attending unauthorized meetings would face disciplinary action, including potential disqualification from the party’s screening process.

The state Executive Committee noted that certain individuals had been convening meetings of potential aspirants, which could undermine the party’s strategy for the elections. Sanusi reiterated that the party has absolute control over its preparations for the polls and that all activities must align with the party constitution.

“The party respects the right of members to meet freely, but the overall interest of the party takes precedence over individual interests,” Sanusi stated. “Only the party chairman or a designated representative can call meetings, not aspirants or their allies.”
