OGSG MINISTRY OF CULTURE AND TOURISM PREPARES TO CELEBRATE 45TH WORLD TOURISM DAY

Ministry of Culture and Tourism in Ogun State prepares to join the rest of the world in celebrating the 45th edition of World Tourism Day, which will be Chief Hosted by Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun.

The 45th edition themed: “Rethinking Tourism” is set to hold on Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at the Hubert Ogunde Hall, June 12 Cultural Center, Kuto, Abeokuta by 10:00 am.

A statement by the Commissioner in the Ministry, Hon, Adijat Adeleye-Oladapo, revealed that stakeholders in the Tourism sector and the public were expected to grace the occasion.

According to Adeleye-Oladapo, the occasion will feature paper presentations from veterans in the tourism industry, drama sketches by the State cultural troupe, and dance performances by different cultural and drama groups.

She said the Day had been designated by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), to foster the awareness of tourism’s social, cultural, political, and economic value, as well as its contribution toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

The Commissioner said ‘’the theme for the year will showcase tourism’s unique ability at ensuring that nobody is left behind as the world begins to open up again and look to the future’’.
