NIMC: NIN/SIM Linkage Deadline Remains Unchanged

The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has reaffirmed that the September 14 deadline for linking National Identification Numbers (NIN) with Subscribers’ Identity Modules (SIM) remains unchanged. This clarification comes as the commission continues to work towards ensuring a seamless enrollment process for Nigerians and legal residents.

In a statement released by Dr. Kayode Adegoke, Head of Corporate Communications, NIMC assured that its equipment and personnel are working seamlessly to ensure a hitch-free enrollment, verification, and authentication process. The commission emphasized that all 10,000 NIN enrollment centers across Nigeria and in the diaspora are open for enrollment, and Nigerians and legal residents can visit any center to obtain their NIN.

NIMC also announced that applicants can modify their NIN data through the Self-Service portal, which is available on the commission’s website. Additionally, applicants can make inquiries on enrollment centers, processes, and procedures via the NIMC website or by contacting the customer care center.

The commission reiterated its commitment to providing excellent identity management services and warned against extortion and unethical practices, emphasizing that NIN enrollment is free. Any issues bothering on extortion of applicants or any form of unwholesome practices can be escalated to [email protected] or by calling 07002255646.

With the deadline fast approaching, Nigerians are urged to take advantage of the extended enrollment period to avoid last-minute rush and potential disruptions to their mobile services.
