NFF Announces New Venue for President Federation Cup Grand Finale

The 2024 President Federation Cup grand finale initially scheduled to take place at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja, will now be held at the historic Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan, Lagos.

In a statement released on Sunday, the NFF detailed the decision to relocate the finale to Lagos Island, where the Mobolaji Johnson Arena previously hosted the competition’s final consecutively from 1945 to 1972. This year marks the first return of the grand finale to this venue in over five decades.

“The Mobolaji Johnson Arena holds a special place in the history of Nigerian football, and we are excited to bring the President Federation Cup final back to this iconic venue,” the NFF stated. “The decision was made to honor the legacy and rich football heritage of the arena.”

The 2024 grand finale will feature a double-header, with Rivers Angels facing Naija Ratels in the women’s event, and Abia Warriors clashing with El-Kanemi Warriors in the men’s event.

The stakes are particularly high for the men’s final, as the winner will earn the opportunity to represent Nigeria in the next season’s CAF Confederation Cup.

The NFF concluded its announcement by encouraging fans to attend the event and support their teams. “We anticipate an exhilarating day of football and invite all fans to join us in celebrating the sport at this esteemed venue,” the statement read.
