English Premier League side Newcastle are making moves to sign Super Eagles and Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, who is out of contract at the end of the season.
According to reports from the Spanish publication Fichajes, West Ham, Aston Villa, and Newcastle United have all shown a strong desire to sign Ndidi as a free agent.
Ndidi is seen by the Magpies as a useful addition to their team as they look to strengthen their midfield options, especially in light of recent injuries and bans that have affected their starting lineup.
This season, injuries plagued the Magpies, and Sandro Tonali’s ban left Eddie Howe with fewer alternatives in midfield, which fueled his desire to have Ndidi as a backup midfielder.
Ndidi, along with targets like Tosin Adarabioyo and Lloyd Kelly, is an alluring potential for the Magpies, who are looking at all options to bolster their squad next season.
The player’s desire to play for a Premier League top-six team, meanwhile, would make things more difficult for Newcastle, as fourth-place Aston Villa—who will probably make it to Europe—now has an advantage in the fight to recruit him.
