Napoli chief explains why Victor Osimhen had to be loaned out to Galatasaray
Napoli director Mauro Meluso has explained why the top-flight Serie A side had to loan out Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen to Turkish Super Lig side Galatasaray.
Meluso, who opened up while speaking with the Italian media, said the move to loan out Osimhen to Galatasaray was a last-minute solution so Osimhen would not lose the first three months of the season.
He stated further that Napoli had received an important offer for Osimhen, but club chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis didn’t consider it because he considered the club’s good.
“It was a last-minute solution so he would not lose the first three months of the season,” Meluso said during the Palermo Football Conference. “We will see in January.”
“He no longer wanted to be part of the first team.
“He had received an important offer even before I arrived at Napoli, but (Napoli chairman) Aurelio De Laurentiis didn’t consider it because he thought about the club’s good.
“He may have made wrong decisions but did them to keep Napoli competitive,” Meluso said.
