Moses Simon set to undergo surgery for a fractured left leg ankle injury today
Super Eagles and Nantes FC winger Moses Simon is set to undergo surgery to correct a fractured left leg injury that he sustained during the friendly match between Nigeria and Mali on Tuesday.
Recall that Simon collided with the Mali goalkeeper during Tuesday’s friendly match between Nigeria and Mali in Marrakech, Morocco, and was eventually stretchered off the field.
The lethal winger, who has bagged no less than 72 caps for the Super Eagles of Nigeria, was later rushed to the hospital following his collision with the Malian goalkeeper.
His club, Nantes FC has now announced that Simon will undergo surgery today (Friday) following his collision with Mali goalkeeper Mamadou Sammassa during the first half of the friendly game.
Simon’s knee setback means he won’t be available for the Super Eagles’ pivotal 2026 World Cup qualifiers in June against South Africa and Benin. Nantes, who are fighting to avoid relegation this season, will also suffer greatly from his absence.
Simon, who recently signed a new three-year contract with Nantes, has registered no fewer than three goals and six assists for his club in the current campaign.
