Mikel Arteta opens up on Thomas Partey’s contract talks with Arsenal
Mikel Arteta, the Spanish coach of top-flight English Premier League (EPL) club Arsenal has opened up on the contract talks with Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey.
While shedding light on the situation of the player whose contract is due to expire in June, Mikel Arteta said that Thomas Partey is only 31 years old and is in a good place.
According to the coach, the one thing that they needed was for the versatile player to be at the level that he must be and he’s working hard to get into shape at the moment.
Arteta said; “He’s only 31 and he’s in a really good place… we will have talks”.
“The one thing that we needed was Thomas to be at the level we certainly wanted. He’s working so hard to do what he’s doing at the moment”. He added.
Arteta also explained why teenager Ethan Nwaneri should be provided with the enabling environment to thrive.
The soccer tactician who opened up during a chat with the British media said that the club (Arsenal) will give Ethan Nwaneri the platform to showcase his budding skills.
The coach said that he cannot just talk about how good the player is right now at the age of 17 and that he should be in the position that he is at the moment at one of the biggest clubs in Europe.
