Michael Olise officially joins Bayern Munich on a five-year deal

France U-21 and Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise has officially joined German Bundesliga side Bayern Munich on a five-year deal worth the sum of £52 million.

Manchester United, Chelsea, and Newcastle United were all fans of the French right-winger; it was rumoured that Palace had permitted the latter two clubs to talk with the player. Still, he decided to change to Germany.

During his three seasons at Palace, the 22-year-old forward who was born in England, made 90 appearances in all competitions. Despite being limited by a hamstring injury last season, Olise participated in half of Palace’s Premier League games.

In a video shared on the club’s social media, Olise donned the Bavarian side’s famous red shirt and also disclosed that he is very happy to join a club like Bayern Munich.

He said: ‘The talks with FC Bayern were very positive, and I’m very happy to now be playing for such a big club.

‘’It’s a great challenge, and that’s exactly what I was looking for. I want to prove myself at this level and play my part in ensuring that we win as many titles as possible with our team in the coming years.’’

Bayern’s sporting director Christoph Freund outlined the salient characteristics that prompted them to pursue an acquisition of Olise in response to the player’s signing.

He said; ‘’Michael is quick, tricky, a goal threat and very versatile in attack.’ Freund said.

‘His goals and assists stats are already outstanding. At the age of 22, Michael is already very advanced, but is also hungry and still has a lot of potential.

‘’Fans come to the stadium to see players like Michael Olise,” Freund added.
