Man Charged with N600,000 Fraud Appears Before Badagry Court

Chimezie Udeji, a 42-year-old man, faced charges of alleged N600,000 fraud as he appeared before the Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Monday.

According to the Prosecutor, ASP Clement Okuiomose, the incident occurred in August 2023 in the Ibereko area of Badagry, Lagos. Udeji purportedly collected N600,000 from the complainant, Aluko Gbenga, under the guise of constructing aluminum windows for him. However, he failed to fulfill his promise and absconded with the money.

Following his apprehension, Udeji was handed over to the police for prosecution.
The Prosecutor cited that the defendant’s actions violated Section 314 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Upon arraignment, Udeji pleaded not guilty to the charge.

In response, Chief Magistrate T.A Popoola granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000, with two sureties in like sum, the case was adjourned until April 3 for mention.
