Ikenne Wins 2022 Akarigbo celebration football cup

Celebrating the 60th birthday and 5th coronation anniversary of the Akarigbo of Remo land, HRM Oba Dr. Adewale Babatunde Ajayi, a football tournament between four local clubs was organized which started on Wednesday, 30th November 2022.

After the semi-final game, Sagamu I and Ikenne qualified for the final game, leaving Sagamu II and Remo north to battle it out for the third place spot, which took place on Saturday, December 3rd at the Remo stars stadium, ikenne.

The third place match started at about 3pm, with Sagamu II stranded as they fell to a narrow defeat from Remo north in a dramatic game which ended 2-1, with two epic strikes from Olalekan, the jersey number 11 player.

The final match of the game before kick off had In attendance the Akarigbo of Remo and other royalties, who officially met all the players and officials, signed the official match ball and had the personality kick off, it was such a memorable moment to behold.

The game after a heated contest was won by Ikenne with the first goal scored on the 23sec time mark just after the first 30-minute kick off, and the second goal on the 47-minute mark, then the third goal by Samuel to hit his hatrick and to make the score line 4-0 after another die minutes goal.

Award and trophies were presented to all three winners by the Akarigbo and other royalties respectively. Celebration continued as all players rejoiced and hoped the next edition of the competition comes better.

The celebration week continues with the thanksgiving service on Sunday at our Saviour’s Anglican church, Ikenne.
