Hon. Chief Solomon Olusanya Odubona Laid to Rest

Iperu, Ogun State, Nigeria, witnessed a heartfelt burial ceremony on August 22, 2024, honoring the life of Hon. Chief Solomon Olusanya Odubona. The event, marked by deep respect and solemnity, brought together family, friends, and community members to pay their final respects to a beloved figure.

The day began with the body being moved from the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital morgue at 9:00 a.m. A brief tribute was held at the House of Assembly in Abeokuta, showcasing the esteem in which he was held by fellow honorary members.

Rt. Hon. Oladipo, 4th Assembly Speaker, described Hon. Odubona as a distinguished public servant and respected leader, committed to democracy and good governance.

The lying in state which feature a series of memorial events, including messages from prominent leaders and former Honourable colleagues such as Hon. S. O Dada, Hon. Surv. S. O Adeaga.

Also in attendance are former speakers of 5th, 7th and 8th of the State Assembly in person of Rt. Hon. (Mrs.) Titi Oseni, and Rt. Hon. Suraj Adekunbi and former deputy speaker Hon. Tola Banjo and several members of the present 10th Assembly led by Rt. Daisi Elemide.

The body was then taken to his family residence in Iperu at noon, paraded through nearby streets, allowing the community to join in the mourning. A church service at St. James Anglican Church commenced on August 23 at 10:00 a.m., followed by a funeral procession.

The casket, carried by pallbearers, was accompanied by family, friends, and a brass band playing solemn tunes, as community members lined the route to pay their respects. The burial took place at 12:00 p.m. at his family residence, with heartfelt eulogies delivered by family, friends, and local leaders.

Over 300 attendees gathered to celebrate the life of Hon. Chief Solomon Olusanya Odubona, a distinguished philanthropist and community leader. The family expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support and love shown during this difficult time. His legacy will be cherished by all who knew him.
