Harry Maguire reacts after being dropped from England’s Euro 2024 squad
Much maligned Manchester United defender Harry Maguire has reacted after he was dropped from England’s 2024 Euro squad after failing to recover from an injury.
Maguire was left out of the squad by England coach Gareth Southgate ahead of the forthcoming Euro 2024, which will take place from Friday, June 14, to Sunday, July 14, 2024.
In a message that he penned on social media after he was dropped, Maguire said that he is devastated that he has not been selected for England after not being able to overcome his injury.
He said; “I am devastated not to have been selected to play for England at the Euros this summer”.
“Despite my best efforts, I have not been able to overcome an injury to my calf. Maybe I pushed myself too hard, to try and make it. Simply, I am absolutely gutted”.
“For me, representing England is the highest honour. It means everything to me. If I can’t help the team as a player, I will support them as a fan – along with the rest of the country. Go and win it, boys”.
“Next, I will return to the supervision of the #mufc medical team in order to prepare for next season,” Maguire concluded.
Two other players, namely Curtis Jones and James Maddison, have left the England training camp following the decision to cut them from the Euro’s 2024 squad.
