Golden Eaglets to face Burkina Faso, Niger, and Togo in first round of WAFU tournament
The Golden Eaglets of Nigeria will face Burkina Faso, the Niger Republic, and Togo in the first round of the WAFU Zone B U-17 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The Nigerian U-17 team will be in Group B of the qualifiers, which will be staged in Accra, Ghana, following the draws made by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) on Friday.
The hosts of the tournament, Ghana will trade tackles with Ivory Coast and Benin in Group A during the tournament, which is scheduled to take place from May 15th to May 28th in Accra.
The draws come days after the coach of the Nigerian U-17 national team, Manu Garba, invited no fewer than 51 players to the camp of the Golden Eaglets ahead of the tournament.
In a chat with Totori News, Garba said that the team’s training camp would commence this Wednesday in preparation for the forthcoming WAFU tournament.
He stated that he believes in the majority of the players he has scouted on his own and has thus mandated them to have their MRIs scanned before they come to camp.
Garba also said that most of the Golden Eaglets players he is about to assemble will grow not only for the U-20 team and the Super Eagles, but they will also do well individually in life.
