GAIN Vows to Make Healthy Food Choices More Affordable, Accessible
The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) has vowed to address nutrition-related issues in Nigeria,by making healthy food choices more affordable, accessible.
Mercy Olorunfemi, Project Manager at GAIN, stated, “Working with partners around the world, GAIN aims to make healthier food choices more affordable, accessible, and desirable.”
GAIN’s Nutrition Impact at Scale project will host the Enterprise Support Organisation (ESOs) for Nutrition in Africa in Nigeria on August 29.
The event aims to empower ESOs to integrate effective nutrition strategies into their support for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
“MSMEs play a critical role in pricing, markets, and quantity of foods on the market… However, despite their crucial role, MSMEs face several challenges that limit their ability to grow and increase the production of nutritious foods,” Olorunfemi said.
The event’s objectives include equipping ESOs with advanced tools and skills, fostering partnerships, and advocating for supportive regulatory frameworks.
Olorunfemi added, “We are excited to bring together diverse stakeholders to drive innovation and transform food systems in sub-Saharan Africa.”
