First Lady Oluremi Tinubu applauds Super Falcons’ Olympic qualification
First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has congratulated Nigeria’s national female football team, the Super Falcons, for their remarkable qualification for the 2024 Olympics in France.
The Super Falcons secured their spot in the prestigious tournament by overcoming Bayana Bayana of South Africa in a hard-fought battle, clinching victory with a 1-0 aggregate scoreline after a goalless draw on Tuesday.
The achievement marks the team’s triumphant return to the Olympic stage after a 16-year hiatus.
Describing the victory as “no small feat,” Mrs Tinubu lauded the Super Falcons for their unwavering perseverance and commitment, attributes that have propelled them to success.

The West African women’s soccer team held the reigning African champions to a 0-0 draw, scaling through 1-0 on aggregate.
Following their qualification for the 2024 Paris Olympics, the Super Falcons will now square up against Brazil, Spain and Japan during the games, which will be staged in a few months.
