FG, Lagos Partner to Empower More Women in Agriculture – AgroNigeria


The Federal Government has partnered with the Lagos State Government in a bid to enhance food security and empower women in the agricultural sector.

The Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, presented the Federal Government’s proposal to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu during a meeting at Lagos House, Marina. She explained that the agricultural initiative is designed to achieve a gender balance, with 30 percent representation for women and 70 percent for men.

In response, Governor Sanwo-Olu reaffirmed Lagos State’s commitment to supporting the federal initiative aimed at strengthening food security. He noted that the state operates a large farm dedicated to boosting agricultural productivity and expressed his administration’s readiness to collaborate with the Federal Government.

“We have a huge farm that we operate. We see the synergy in what you’re doing. The food security you want to achieve, we will help you in achieving it. We’re willing to derive the benefits from what the Federal Government is bringing to us,” Sanwo-Olu stated.

He further emphasized that Lagos is always prepared to engage in initiatives that promote development within the state and create employment opportunities for its residents.
