Ex-UFC Champion Francis Ngannou loses 15-month-old son, Kobe
Former Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) heavyweight champion and boxer of Cameroonian heritage, Francis Ngannou, has announced the death of his 15-month-old son Kobe.
Ngannou announced on social media, confirming earlier reports that fellow UFC competitor Conor McGregor and trainer Eric Nicksick were among those to send condolences.
The former UFC champion, 37, is grieving the loss of his baby son, and he expressed his confusion over life’s meaning in a cryptic social media post shared on his handle.
“Too soon to leave but yet he’s gone,” Ngannou wrote. “My little boy, my mate, and my partner Kobe was full of life and joy. Now he’s lying without life. I shouted his name over and over but he’s not responding.
“I was my best self next to him and now I have no [clue who I am. Life is so unfair to hit us where it hurts the most.
“How do you deal with such a thing? How can you live with it? Please help me if you have an idea because I really don’t know what to do and how to deal with this.” He wrote on Instagram.
The cause of his son’s death is yet unknown, while the boxer’s close friends and family members are honouring his privacy during such a trying and difficult time.
