Ex-Rangers player wants Dessers to show more killer instincts in front of goal

Derek Ferguson, a former Scottish Premiership side Rangers FC player, wants Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers to show more killer instinct in front of goal.

One of the former Rangers players who reacted to Dessers’s low conversion rate in a chat with The Herald said that Dessers can be frustrating at times as a striker.

He stated further that the player blows a bit hot and cold most of the time because quality point men try to find the back of the net after one—and two-touch finishes, but Dessers always wants to take that third and fourth to hit the target.

Ferguson said, “He’s (Dessers) frustrating. When you’ve played with some quality strikers, you know if they get space in the box, it’s one- and two-touch finishes. But he always wants to take the third and fourth. He blows a bit hot and cold,” Ferguson was quoted by The Herald.

“But I’m still not sure exactly what Dessers is. Is he a target man? Does he run the channels? He’s certainly not an out-and-out finisher. Sometimes he makes runs, and you wonder where he’s going. He’s a bit of a mixed bag.

“He looks like somebody who needs to be coached when it should be natural in his game.” The ex-player added.
