Eniola’s bronze medal feat at Paris Paralympics a product of investment —Francis Orbih

Francis Orbih, the president of the Badminton Federation of Nigeria (BFN), characterized Eniola Bolaji’s bronze medal performance in the para-badminton competition at the 2024 Paralympic Games as the outcome of investment.

Bolaji became the first athlete from Nigeria or Africa to win an Olympic or Paralympic medal in badminton history when he defeated Kozyna Oksana of Ukraine 21-9, 21-9, to secure the bronze medal.

In a recent statement from the Badminton Federation of Nigeria, the federation’s president hailed the athlete, saying she overcame the difficulties to attain this feat.

“The BFN extends its heartfelt congratulations to Eniola Mariam Bolaji for her outstanding performance,” the federation’s president said.

“Though the journey to this point was a very rough ride, we are here now with a medal to show for all the effort and investment both on the part of the federation and more importantly from the player herself,” the president said.

“Eniola’s remarkable victory is a testament to her unwavering dedication, exceptional talent, and relentless pursuit of excellence.

Orbih further claimed that aspirant athletes in Nigeria and throughout Africa are now motivated by her accomplishments.

“Her hard work and perseverance have paid off, not only for herself but for the entire Nigerian sporting community,” he added.
