Eighteen Casualties, Seven Fatalities in Tragic Ogun Road Crash
A tragic road accident in the Ogere area of Ogun State has claimed the lives of seven people. The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed that the crash, which occurred at approximately 9:33 pm on Monday, involved 18 individuals.
According to Florence Okpe, the spokesperson for the FRSC Ogun sector command, the accident involved an unregistered truck and a Mazda bus with the registration number MNY894YN. Okpe attributed the cause of the accident to excessive speed on the part of the Mazda bus driver, who collided with the rear of the moving truck.
“A total of 18 persons were involved, comprising 15 male adults and 3 female adults. Eleven people were injured, including 9 male adults and 2 female adults, while 7 persons, five male and two female, were recorded dead from the crash,” Okpe stated.
The injured victims were rushed to Patmag Hospital in Ogere for medical treatment, and the corpses were taken to the FOS morgue in Ipara.
Anthony Uga, the Sector Commander, extended his condolences to the families of the victims and urged drivers to adhere to reasonable speed limits, especially during night time and in adverse weather conditions. He also advised passengers to remain vigilant and proactive in ensuring their drivers maintain safe driving practices.
