EFCC Officers Under Investigation for Alleged Assault on Hotel Staff
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has initiated a disciplinary investigation against two operatives accused of assaulting a female employee during a recent raid at a hotel in Lagos. This development was announced by the EFCC’s spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, in a statement released on Monday from Abuja.
The EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, has established a disciplinary panel to scrutinize the conduct of the officers involved in the incident, which occurred at the Regional Hotel in Ojo, Lagos. The incident, captured on video, shows the officers allegedly assaulting the hotel staff during an early morning sting operation last Thursday.
In his statement, Oyewale confirmed that Olukoyede has ordered the immediate arrest of the two officers. “They are required to appear before a joint Disciplinary Team comprising the Appointment, Promotion, and Disciplinary Committee (APDC) and the Department of Ethics and Integrity,” Oyewale stated. The officers are scheduled to present themselves to the panel on Monday, July 1, at the EFCC’s Corporate Headquarters in Abuja.
The disciplinary team is tasked with investigating the actions of the officers and recommending appropriate measures. According to Oyewale, Olukoyede emphasized that “no stone will be left unturned in ensuring that the officers are held accountable for their unprofessional conduct.”
