Chawz n Chops Brings OOU Students Together for Day of Connection, Entertainment
Gateway Stadium, Sagamu was abuzz with excitement on November 23rd as students of Olabisi Onabanjo University gathered for the highly anticipated Chawz and Chops event.
Designed to foster connections and provide a platform for students to unwind, the event drew a large turnout of students eager to have fun and socialize with their peers.
Students began arriving at the Gateway Stadium in pairs and groups, dressed to impress for the highly anticipated social event. Upon arrival, many flocked to the face painting stand, where talented artists transformed their faces into vibrant works of art. With their newfound looks, the students made their way to the main attractions, where the sounds of music, and the thrill of games awaited, marking the official start of the fun-filled day.
As the day went on, the atmosphere at the Gateway Stadium became more lively. Students participated in various games such as bouncing castle, Ludo, Ayo, Table Tennis, and Draught. There was also a variety of food and drinks available, including cocktails, chicken, and small chops. The DJ played music that kept everyone entertained and dancing.
As the students walked the red carpet, they shared their excitement about the event. When asked about their expectations, many respondents echoed the same sentiment: “We’re out for fun!” They emphasized that the event provided a much-needed break from their academic responsibilities, echoing the familiar adage that “all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.”
Similarly, the organizers of the event shed light on the motivation behind Chawz n Chops, revealing that the primary goal was to fill a void in the local social scene. According to them, there had been a lack of events that catered to students’ desire for a fun and relaxed atmosphere.
The organizers aimed to create a unique experience where students could come together, socialize, and network in a setting that deviated from the typical 18+ party setup. Encouraged by the event’s success, they expressed their commitment to making Chawz n Chops an annual affair.
