Bayern Munich considers Vincent Kompany as new coach to replace Thomas Tuchel

Top-flight German club Bayern Munich FC are considering signing Burnley manager Vincent Kompany as new coach to replace outgoing gaffer Thomas Tuchel.

Per respected Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Kompany (who hails from Belgium) has already received a direct call from Bayern board to be informed on his situation.

He further disclosed in a post on X that Kompany has been considered as an option at several clubs across Europe in recent days, despite relegation with Burnley FC.

Romano wrote, ‘‘More on Vincent Kompany and FC Bayern story revealed earlier today.

‘‘Understand Kompany has already received direct call from Bayern board to be informed on his situation.

‘‘Kompany was open to discuss, still early stages but interest is confirmed — he’s in the list.’’ The journalist added.

This comes days after Thomas Tuchel decided not to continue as the manager of Bayern Munich, sticking to his earlier decision to leave the club at the end of the season.

Discussions were ongoing between the agent of the former Chelsea coach and Bayern officials at the club’s headquarters, with crucial points for Tuchel to stay on as Bayern coach being worked out.

However, the well-travelled coach issued a statement saying that he will not continue as Bayern coach and is ready for a new challenge.

Tuchel said that his decision to step down at the end of the season as Bayern coach still stands as he was unable to reach an agreement with the club to stay on.
