Aruna Quadri of Nigeria becomes the 16th best table tennis player in the world
Nigerian table tennis player Quadri Aruna has moved up one step to take 16th place on the ITTF Ranking, continuing his upward trajectory of consistent improvement.
As of Tuesday, June 4, the world table tennis governing body announced the 23rd ITTF Ranking for 2024, and he is still the highest-ranked player from Africa.
Additionally, Aruna will face his hometown favourite Frane Kojic in the opening round of the men’s singles at the 2024 WTT Contender Zagreb, which will be held in Serbia, as part of his quest to accumulate more points before the Paris 2024 Olympic Games in France.
Aruna’s appeal to reinstate his World Table Tennis Championships points was approved by the ITTF Executive Board, elevating him to 16th place in the latest rankings. His ascent began in Week 22 after his round-of-16 finish at the Saudi Smash last month.
Aruna is still awaiting official confirmation from the ITTF for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. The world classification will determine the final roster of athletes who will travel to Paris next month.
