AFCON QUALIFIER: Troost-Ekong reacts after Super Eagles forced Benin Republic to a 1-1 draw

Captain of the Super Eagles William Troost-Ekong has reacted after the senior national team of Nigeria secured a 1-1 draw against the Cheetahs of Benin in Abidjan.

Recall that Benin Republic took the lead through Mohammed Tijani in the 16th minute and had other chances to increase their lead in the game but they failed to take advantage of their luck.

It took the Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen nine minutes before the end of the match to equalise for his team after a beautiful cross was delivered to him by Moses Simon.

While reacting after the game, Troost-Ekong said that their result against Benin Republic is a fair one and he is happy that his team remains unbeaten in the qualifiers.

He said; “It was a fair result and we’re very happy to have qualified and remain unbeaten in this campaign,” the centre-back said after the game.

“We were a bit unlucky with their goal because the person missing in the far post was Victor Osimhen and he was at the other end of the pitch,” Troost-Ekong noted.
