AFCON 2025 QUALIFIERS: Troost-Ekong assures Nigerians of victory against Benin Republic, Rwanda

The captain of the Super Eagles of Nigeria William Troost-Ekong has assured Nigerians that the senior national team will secure victory in the forthcoming 2025 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda.

Troost-Ekong who made the comments while speaking with the media stated that the Super Eagles will do all in their power to secure six points in the two AFCON qualifying games.

He noted that the Super Eagles are fired up for the game against Benin Republic coached by Gernot Rohr, especially after losing to the team in the World Cup qualifiers.

The mulatto soccer admitted that it would be hard to get a win against Benin Republic tutored by Rohr who was the coach of the Super Eagles for five years but his teammates are ready for the game.

“We’re ready for the game, playing against Gernot Rohr, a coach that knows us very well, was with us up to five years but we’ll be ready for the game,” Troost-Ekong told reporters in Uyo.

The player born in the Netherlands into a mixed Dutch and Nigerian family, also stated that it is up to the Super Eagles to get revenge against Benin Republic in the AFCON qualifier.

“I think it is our job. The coach adds to the team and organises the team but the responsibility is the players,” added the Al-Khaloood of Saudi Arabia defender.
