Bayern Munich unveils Vincent Kompany as new head coach
Top-flight German Bundesliga side Bayern Munich have unveiled former Belgium player Vincent Kompany as the club’s new head coach to replace Thomas Tuchel.
Kompany, who played for English Premier League side Manchester City for eleven seasons, has signed in as the new Bayern manager on a contract valid until June 2027.
While reacting after he was unveiled as the new Bayern coach, Kompany said that he is looking forward to the challenge of working with the players and building a team.
Kompany said, “I’m looking forward to the challenge at FC Bayern.”
“As a coach, you have to stand up for who you are as a person. I love having possession of the ball and being creative, and we also have to be aggressive on the pitch and brave.”
“I’m now looking forward to the most basic things: working with the players and building a team. When the foundation is in place, success will follow.”
Kompany’s appointment comes after Thomas Tuchel decided not to stay on as manager of Bayern Munich, following his earlier declaration that he would quit the team at the end of the season.
At the club’s headquarters, Tuchel’s agency and club officials were incessantly working out the issues that would allow the former Chelsea coach to stay on as Bayern’s coach.
However, the seasoned German manager made it known in a statement that he will not be continuing as Bayern’s coach, stating that he is ready for a new challenge.
