Family, Friends Eulogize Late High Chief Olubayode Omololu Oluwole at Night of Tribute
On Tuesday, May 28, 2024, a solemn gathering of family, friends, colleagues, political associates, and the people of Sagamu converged for a Tribute Night in honor of the late High Chief Olubayode Omololu Oluwole, fondly known as “Authority.” The event was a celebration of the life and legacy of a man who left an indelible mark on the community.
High Chief Oluwole, who passed away on March 23, 2024, was eulogized by numerous speakers who shared stories of his unwavering commitment to justice, his unshakeable integrity, and his selfless contributions to the development of Sagamu and its people.
Otunba Senator Gbenga Daniel, in his tribute, praised the deceased as “a very good man, one of the best I have seen in the affairs of this country’s politics.” He commended the children of the deceased for being fortunate to have had such a remarkable father.
The late High Chief Oluwole served as the first Executive Chairman of Sagamu Local Government from 1991 to 1993 and held various notable titles within the community, including the Bobajiroro of Remo Land, the Aremo of Arowosugbo of Ojowo Ijebu Igbo, the Aro of Latawa Sagamu, Olofin of Ibido, Sagamu, and the Balogun of Methodist Church, Ijoku Sagamu.
Yeye Adenike Adebutu encouraged the children to remain united and ensure that their father’s legacy continues to inspire future generations. She expressed gratitude to all who attended the Tribute Night and urged everyone to live a good life, so that others may speak well of them when they are no longer present.
The final rites for High Chief Olubayode Omololu Oluwole will continue on Thursday with a lying-in-state ceremony at his Ishara and Sagamu residences, followed by a Christian wake-keeping service at his Sagamu residence. The final funeral service is scheduled for Friday, May 31, 2024.
The Tribute Night was an emotional occasion, as the wife, children, and grandchildren of the deceased came together to celebrate the life well lived of their beloved father.
