Lookman wrote history that will last for a very long time —-Gasperini
The coach of Italian Serie A side Atalanta FC, Gian Piero Gasperini, has declared that Nigerian striker Ademola Lookman has written history that will last forever.
Gasperini was speaking against the backdrop of Lookman’s impressive hat-trick which he scored against Bayer Leverkusen during the Europa League Cup final.
The coach said that the player who won Man of the Match and Player of the Week noted that it is not about the three goals he scored in the final but how he took his chances in the game.
He noted that the coaching staff at Atalanta had seen the qualities in Lookman when he was at Leicester City even though he did not score too many goals at first.
“We had seen his qualities through someone at Leicester City. He didn’t score many goals at first, we had him change his position a bit to play him more offensively,” Gasperini told BBC Sport.
“He wrote history that will live on for a long time. It was of course those three goals, but the way in which it was done was also astonishing.” The coach added.
This comes a day after it was reported in the media that English Premier League (EPL) side West Ham United are keen on signing Lookman from Atalanta.
This update was made known in a recent report published by The Mirror, which revealed that Lookman is being considered by new West Ham manager Julen Lopetegui, who is seeking massive changes to the squad bequeathed to him by David Moyes.
