Chelsea draw up four-man coaching list after parting ways with Mauricio Pochettino
English Premier League (EPL) side Chelsea FC have drawn up a four-man coaching list after recently parting ways with Argentine-born manager Mauricio Pochettino by mutual consent.
Per a post shared on X by transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, the race to become the next Chelsea coach to replace Pochettino is open as Thomas Frank, Kieran McKenna, and Enzo Maresca have all been mentioned internally at Chelsea.
Romano also disclosed that Seb Hoeneß of Stuttgart remains highly rated but considered difficult to appoint, while there have been no talks with Vincent Kompany, Thomas Tuchel, Ansi Flick or Antonio Conte as widely reported.
‘‘Thomas Frank, Kieran McKenna, and Enzo Maresca have all been mentioned internally at Chelsea. It’s still open race.
‘‘Seb Hoeneß remains highly rated but considered difficult to appoint.
‘‘No talks with Kompany (on Bayern list), Tuchel, Flick or Conte.
‘’Internal discussions on.’’ Romano shared this on his official X-handle.
The report comes days after Pochettino bid farewell to Chelsea FC after he surprisingly parted ways with the club by mutual consent on Tuesday, despite guiding the club to a sixth-place finish in the English Premier League (EPL).
Reports say the coach and Todd Boehly-led board agreed on terms to sever ties with the tactician as the club now seeks to employ a younger manager as a priority.
Pochettino’s departure was confirmed in a statement issued by Chelsea Directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley, who both wished the coach all the very best in his future coaching career.
“On behalf of everyone at Chelsea, we’d like to express our gratitude to Mauricio for his service this season. He’ll be welcome back to Stamford Bridge any time and we wish him all the very best in his future coaching career”. The statement by the Directors read.
The club stated that Pochettino’s resignation, which was made official two days ago, was decided by mutual consent, indicating scepticism on both sides.
