Arthur Okonkwo set to leave Arsenal this summer as a free agent
Talented Nigerian-English professional football player Arthur Chukwuezugo Okonkwo is set to leave Arsenal this summer as a free agent following the expiration of his contract.
Okonkwo, who plays as a goalkeeper for EFL League Two club Wrexham, on loan from Premier League club Arsenal, will now exit the club alongside Cedric Soares and Mohammed Elneny.
According to the Mirror’s Ryan Taylor, the trio will leave the London club on June 30th with no apparent plans by Arsenal to extend the contracts of the players.
With Wrexham FC, Okonkwo has excelled, playing 40 games across all competitions and recording 16 clean sheets while assisting the team’s promotion to League One.
The 22-year-old started his football career at Lindus Park, where he joined Arsenal in 2009, having previously attended Hampstead.
As a young player, Okonkwo rose through the ranks of Arsenal swiftly, even making an appearance on the bench for an under-18 Arsenal match, although he was officially registered as an under-15 player. At the age of 17, he made his debut with the Arsenal under-23 team as well.
