Ministry of Defence Hands Over 20 Armored Personnel Carriers to Enhance Troops’ Capability
The Ministry of Defence (MoD) handed over 20 newly acquired Armored Personnel Carriers (APCs) to the Defence Headquarters in a bid to bolster the professional capabilities of the Nigerian Armed Forces troops.
The announcement came in a statement issued by Ibrahim Kana, Permanent Secretary of the MoD, in Abuja on Thursday.
During the handover ceremony, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Gen. Christopher Musa, received the APCs from the Permanent Secretary. Kana emphasized that the initiative was aimed at strengthening the nation’s defence capabilities to effectively tackle emerging security challenges and enhance the operational capabilities of the Armed Forces.
Kana stated, “This handover marks a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to strengthen the operational readiness of our Armed Forces. These Armored Personnel Carriers will provide our troops with enhanced protection and mobility, enabling them to carry out their duties more effectively in safeguarding our nation’s sovereignty.”
In his remarks, Gen. Musa highlighted the strategic importance of the APCs in enabling the Armed Forces to respond swiftly and decisively to security threats. He commended the Ministry of Defence for its steadfast support in equipping the troops and expressed gratitude for the acquisition of the vehicles.
“With the acquisition of these 20 Armored Personnel Carriers, the Nigerian Armed Forces are better equipped to tackle the challenges of the modern security landscape and uphold peace and stability across the nation,” Musa affirmed.
