AC Milan advancing in talks with Lopetegui as new head coach to replace Pioli
Italian Serie A side AC Milan are reportedly advancing in talks with Spanish coach Julen Lopetegui as the team’s new head coach to replace Stefano Pioli under fire.
One of the favourites for the West Ham position, which is anticipated to open up after Moyes’s contract expires at the end of the current campaign, was Lopetegui.
However, Milan is also planning to replace Pioli with the Spaniard as part of a management move. The opportunity to play for the big Italian teams is what draws Lopetegui in more.
Per respected transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, Lopetegui is giving priority to AC Milan over West Ham and more European clubs after positive talks took place about the project.
‘‘AC Milan are advancing in talks with Julen Lopetegui as the new head coach to replace Pioli. Lopetegui’s giving priority to AC Milan over West Ham and more European clubs; positive talks took place about the project. Further steps are yet to be discussed soon.’’ Romano wrote on his X-handle.
Recall that Lopetegui left Wolverhampton Wanderers of the English Premier League, along with players like Ruben Neves, because he became upset with the club’s lack of spending. Wolves also recognized that there were “differences of opinion on certain issues” with the coach.
