Gov Oyebanji Inaugurates Ekiti Agro Marshals to Protect Farmlands, Others
In a bid to enhance safety and boost food security in Ekiti State, Governor Biodun Oyebanji inaugurated the Ekiti Agro Marshals to protect farmlands, schools, and palaces across the state.
The initiative aims to complement existing security efforts and was prompted by the President’s directive to Governors to establish special guards for farmlands and forests.
During the passing out parade in Ado-Ekiti, Governor Oyebanji emphasized the importance of securing agricultural resources, educational institutions, and cultural heritage sites for sustainable development and communal harmony.
However, the Marshals’ main mandate is to safeguard farmlands, palaces, and schools, while collaborating with other security agencies to make Ekiti the safest place in the country.
The Governor stressed the need for the Marshals to respect citizens’ rights and operate within the confines of the law.
He highlighted the collaborative effort between the state, local government, and traditional institutions to ensure farmers’ safety and enhance food production.
Commander Olamide Oni assured the Governor that the Marshals are well-trained to carry out their duties effectively and ensure peace on farmlands and forests.
Furthermore, Oba Ilori Faboro, representing all royal fathers, expressed appreciation to the Governor for his efforts in maintaining Ekiti as the safest state and pledged support for the Marshals.
