Super Falcons set to play two friendly games before Paris 2024 Olympics —Report
Two friendly matches have been scheduled for the Super Falcons by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) as part of their training for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
This was revealed by a source at the federation, who revealed that the NFF has agreed that the Falcons play two friendly games during the FIFA women’s window from May 27 to June 4.
The source, however, revealed that NFF has not yet revealed the two countries that the Falcons will face but the team’s backroom staff have been notified to start preparing for a camp in Europe next month.
Recall that on Tuesday night, the Nigerian women’s national team played well against South Africa’s Banyana Banyana in the second leg of their last qualifying round match at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria.
The Super Falcons held the reigning African champions to a 0-0 draw, scaling through 1-0 on aggregate, thus ending a sixteen-year wait to qualify for the Olympics.
While reacting to the team’s qualification for the Olympics, coach Randy Waldrum said that the Super Falcons played to instruction in the keenly contested encounter played in Pretoria.
The coach also admitted that his side must improve in attack to have a good outing at the 2024 Olympic Games, which will begin from 26 July to 11 August 2024.
“It is a huge accomplishment for Nigeria and we defended brilliantly. There is work to be done when it comes to our attack, and we will improve before heading to France,” the 67-year-old told French outlet France 24 in an interview.
