Royal Recognition: Akarigbo of Remoland Receives Honorary Doctorate at OOU Convocation Ceremony

Celebrations as dignitaries gathered today, the 31st of January 2024, as Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ago-Iwoye confers the distinguished award of Doctor of Science (Honoris Causa) on Oba (Dr.) Babatunde Adewale Ajayi, CFR(Torungbuwa II), Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remoland.

The conferment was done during the 32nd and 33rd convocation ceremony of the institution, which started on Monday. The Honoris Causa for the Akarigbo was in recognition of his immense contribution on the growth of the community, nothing that Oba Adewale Babatunde Ajayi was once the chairman of OOU governing council.

In attendance to celebrate the Akarigbo were members of Remo councils of obas’ which consist of kings across remoland, Members of Remo growth and development foundation, Asiwaju SK Onafowokan and many other dignitaries.

The guest speaker of the day, chief Wole Olanipekun who spoke on the topic “Mass exodus of human capital in Nigeria: An anatomical analysis of the causes and effects” did justice by encouraging the graduands and congratulating the king on his conferment.

In addition to Oba Babatunde Adewale Ajayi, the immediate past Pro-Chancellor of OOU and Chairman of the Governing Council, Dr. Mrs. Mosunmola Belo-Olusoga, was also honored with an honorary doctorate. The convocation ceremony was further graced by the presence of the executive governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, who was represented by the deputy governor, Noimot Salako-Oyedele.

This momentous occasion not only recognized the Akarigbo’s unwavering dedication and transformative leadership but have also left an indelible mark on the community.
