PSN SET TO COLLABORATE WITH THE OGUN STATE GOVERNMENT FOR MANAGEMENT OF DISEASES

The Ogun state chairman of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), Otunba Adewale Adenugba in the Pharmacy House at Abeokuta on the occasion of this year’s World Pharmacists Day stated that the PSN in Ogun state has promised to collaborate with the state government on management of long-term and chronic diseases.

The chairman stated that collaboration became necessary as pharmacists are the closest healthcare providers to the community and these diseases include communicable and non-communicable diseases.

Adenugba said: “The Nigeria National Primary Health care Development Agency (NPHCDA) had already deployed machinery to engage over 6,000 community pharmacies in Nigeria in the national vaccination program

According to him, The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals Number 3 sets several targets for these disease conditions and pharmacists in Ogun state are willing and empowered to collaborate with the government for the betterment of the people as different areas of practice in Ogun state are trained and continuously being trained to deliver effective pharmaceutical care, by following international guideline and practices. He also appreciated Dapo Abiodun for his giant strides in health care in the state through different measures.
