Weather Forecast: Sunshine and Haziness Expected Across Nigeria
The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted a three-day period of sunshine and haziness across the country, starting from Wednesday.
According to NiMet’s weather outlook, released on Tuesday in Abuja, the northern region can expect moderate dust haze on Wednesday, with visibility reduced to 1,000m or less in some areas.
In contrast, the North Central region will experience slight dust haze throughout the forecast period, while the southern region will enjoy sunny skies with a hazy atmosphere, accompanied by early morning mist and patches of clouds.
NiMet also predicts thunderstorms with light rains in parts of Cross River, Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Akwa Ibom States during the afternoon and evening hours.
On Thursday, moderate dust haze is expected in the northern region, while the North Central region will experience moderate dust haze, and the southern region will have sunny skies in a hazy atmosphere.
For Friday, dust haze is expected in the northern and North Central regions, while the southern region will experience sunny skies with patches of clouds.
NiMet has advised the public to take necessary precautions due to the presence of dust particles in the air. Individuals with asthmatic health conditions and other respiratory issues are urged to be aware of the present weather conditions.
The agency also advises the public to adhere to safety advisories issued by relevant authorities. Airline operators are charged to obtain airport-specific weather reports from NiMet for effective planning as well.
